>From THE FLORENCE HERALD - Thursday, October 24, 1895: DEATH OF MR. J. W. BROOKS --- Mr. J. W. BROOKS, an old and highly esteemed citizen of the Centre Star neighborhood died Monday at his home near Centre Star. Mr. BROOKS had been sick for some time and his death was not unexpected. He was a representative citizen of of Lauderdale and well known and greatly liked in this city and over the county. The funeral occurred Tuesday morning, the interment being in the city cemetery. The deceased wa the father of Mrs. FRANK JACKSON, of this city.
