I am seeking any descendents of Nancy E. Grant Whitehead, wife of William Whitehead. William and Nancy lived in Lauderdale County their entire life and died in the same county. Nancy was born about 1822 in Maury County, TN. Nancy was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Grant. Thomas and Sarah lived in Maury County, TN, in an area that later became Marshall County (1836). After Thomas death in 1838, Sarah left Tennessee with the rest of the family around 1840 and moved to Pontotoc County, MS. Other Grant's who move there as well were James Davis Grant, Richard G. Grant, Mary Margaret who married David R. Looney, Levinia who married Early Reasonover, and Elizabeth who married Posey P Weaver. It appears that Nancy may not have been with them as she is noted in the Alabama records in Lauderdale County as she and William married on April 22, 1840. J. O. Tate, JP was the official.
