    3. There was a William B. Davis in Wayne County, Tennessee. He was born about 1797 in South Carolina and died in 1862 in Wayne County, Tennessee. His wife was Elizabeth Long, born about 1797 in South Carolina and died 22 April 1869 in Wayne County, Tennessee. Their apparent children were: 1. Sophia Ann Davis - b. c1820 South Carolina; d. c1841 Wayne County, Tennessee; m. c1837 Wayne County, Tennessee to John D. Murphy. 2. Champ Terry Davis - b. c1822 South Carolina; d. bef 17 Sep 1868; m. Caroline________. 3. Margaret Davis - b. South Carolina; d. bef 1862; m. Anderson Stroud. 4. Nancy M. Davis - d. bef 1862; m. J.W. Cooper. 5. Daniel Davis - d. bef 1862. 6. James L. Davis - b. c1828 South Carolina; m1. c1850 Wayne County, Tennessee to Mary C.________; m2. c1855 Wayne County, Tennessee to Sarah "Sallie" Cooper 7. Back when I worked in the Historian's office in Waynesboro, Tennessee (Wayne County) I found the below case in the Chancery Court Loose Papers and abstracted it for my notes. I should add that I am not a Davis descendant, as far as I know, and was only interested in the Murphy connection. Case #____ - 17 September 1869 Jas. L. Davis Exr. -vs- W.B. Davis etal William B. Davis died in 1862 in Wayne County, Tennessee. His wife, Elizabeth, died 22 April 1869. Their children were: 1. James L. Davis of Illinois. 2. Zachariah Davis. 3. William B. Davis, Jr. 4. Nancy M. Davis (dec), wife of Joseph Cooper. 4a. G.W. Cooper. 5. Margaret Davis (dec), wife of Anderson Stroud. 5a. Sarah L. Stroud, wife of Joseph Fowler. Resided Lincoln County, Tennessee. 6. Daniel/David Davis (dec). 6a. Harriett E. Davis, wife of Albert Barnett. 7. Sopha Ann Davis (dec), wife of John D. Murphy. 7a. William B. Murphy. Resided in Mississippi. 7b. Kissah Murphy, wife of _____Brigenham/Brissingham. Resided in Mississippi. 7c. Martha Murphy, wife of _____Rinks/Lynch. Resided in Mississippi. 7d. Susannah Murphy, wife of _____Huffman.
