The waiting is almost over!!! The "Preliminary" Lauderdale book is here! I've actually SEEN it - and I'm as excited as I can be about it. It's GREAT! I just know that everyone that ordered one will be very pleased. The 'mailed' books will be sent out by the end of the week, and the local 'pick-up' books will be handed out at the Florence Library the 30th, 31st and 1 Aug [Sunday afternoon]. Pat

Laura, I'm not familiar with the family you're asking about, but the name of the community is Gravelly Springs. It's roughly 10 miles east of Waterloo on County RD 14. Good Morning Everyone, All queries and surnames received up to mid-night last night have been posted. If any of you have sent me something in the past two months, and it's not yet on the web site, please remind me. I've been 'bouncing' between two computers for about that long, and although I've tried to keep everything straight, I could easily have missed something. So please let me know. I do want to thank all of you for being so patient during my computer problems. Believe me, I wouldn't wish them on anyone! Thanks, Pat

Greetings, I have, for many years, been researching my great great grandfather, NATHAN DAVIS, (1786 - ?) who's son was named LEVI FOWLER DAVIS (1819 - 1888) NATHAN DAVIS was first located by this researcher in Lauderdale County Alabama. NATHAN was there from about 1821 until about 1842 Family legend has NATHAN coming from South Carolina, but I have never been able to locate the place of his birth or who his parents were. I offer the following information in hopes of finding additional information about Nathan Davis. These are assumptions only: Nathan was married to EMILY FOWLER in South Carolina EMILY FOWLER was the child of MARTHA O. FOWLER and her husband LEVI FOWLER. MARTHA O. FOWLER came to Lauderdale County Alabama with her daughter Emily and her son-in-law NATHAN. EMILY FOWLER DAVIS died about 1819 at the birth or complications from the birth of her son LEVI FOWLER DAVIS. Her mother MARTHA FOWLER, and Nathan's 2nd wife, EMILY McCLUSTER (McALLISTER) raised LEVI FOWLER DAVIS LIVI FOWLER DAVIS married NANCY GERMAN in Monroe County Mississippi in 1841. Facts: MARTHA O. FOWLER has a headstone in the WESLEY CHAPLE Methodist church cemetery which says "MARTHA O. FOWLER, wife of LEVI FOWLER" and her birth date: 6 May 1769 and her death date: 11 July 1841 but there is no headstone for LEVI FOWLER. Also buried in WESLEY CHAPEL cemetery is ELIJAH FOWLER (1811 - 1862) & wife MARY, their son RICHARD D. FOWLER(1848 - 1860), and LEOLA FOWLER (1867 - ?) In the same WESLEY CHAPLE cemetery is a stone for a LEVI COLUMBUS FOWLER (3 August 1841 - 28 February 1935) and MARY E. (1843 - 1920), wife of LEVI COLUMBUS FOWLER. Their children were at least LEOLA E. FOWLER and WILEY F. FOWLER. The age of MARTHA O. FOWLER at her death date would indicate that she was not the mother of LEVI COLUMBUS FOWLER, but the coincidence of the names might indicate a relation. If anyone can offer additional information it would be appreciated. L&S Bob Davis 13117A NW 8th Ave. Vancouver, WA 98685 (360) 574-1624

I have been researching the descendents of Samuel E. Young for a couple of years now, took a year off, and am trying to tie up some loose ends. Samuel E. Young left Lauderdale Co, AL with his wife, Nancy Jane Pool Young, and some of his grown children and their families (John Dewberry Young, Missouri Ann Young Gresham, Mary Harriett Young Gresham, Nancy Elizabeth Young Bevis) to Hopkins Co, TX. A few stayed behind in AL (James F. Young, Sallie/Sarah Young, Johnson (Jonsie) W. Young). One (Thomas W. Young) went to Gibson Co, TN. What I know of this family is posted on my web site: http://members.aol.com/skyblue59/gen.htm Below are 3 of 5 children of James F. Young. Really stuck here due to lack of resources & would like to trade information! Lee Young b: Abt 1871 married to Mattie Moomaw m: Mar 2, 1895 Lauderdale Co, AL John Young b: Nov 1876 Nora Young b: July 1884 married to James or F. A. Sego Also in the book "Kith and Kin of James and Mary (Kellough) Young" by Miriam Young Pack, it states that a YOUNG cemetery was on a farm, sold and the grave yard plowed up/or bulldozed with the stones in the bushes, unreadable! I have seen correspondence to verify this, which saddens me greatly. It further states that Samuel E. Young died while visiting relatives and his wife, Nancy Jane Pool Young, died in Hopkins Co, TX in 1899. I have looked for a few years and have not been able to find any information on Sam's or his wife's deaths. Sam is in the census for 1900, so it would be after that time. Could use help here also. *Ü* TIA, (thanks in advance) Sharon
