Searching for ancestors and/or any descendants of my great-grandmother, Mary Jane Nix (Burch) b 23 Oct 1868 who married John C. Burch on 25 Sept. 1887. The family lived in Lauderdale Co. AL from abt. 1898 to 1903, the moved to Lawrence Co. Tennessee. They are listed in the 1900 Lauderdale Co. Census.

Does anyone have easy access to the 1900 Lauderdale Co., AL. census either in book form or on microfilm? On the website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~algwarch.lauderdale.htm which has the 1900 Lauderdale Co. census index, I find a Henry Myrick listed. It only lists the head of household and I think the microfilm page no. on which that name appears. I would like to know who else is in Henry Myrick's household, such as his wife and children, their ages and place of birth. If someone could look this up for me, I would deeply appreciate it. The page number which appears next to Henry Myrick's name is 238A. I assume this is the microfilm page number. Thanks. Judy

Question to the list members with Lindsey ancestors: When did your Lindsey migrate to Lauderdale Co? Was it between 1805 and 1815? Josiah L. Lindsey was born in NC April 5, 1805. Lindsey's in NC had moved across the line into SC; therefore, I believe it's a strong possibility that many of the Lindsey's are related. Where you find one, you'll find another. Josiah went from Lauderdale Co. to Itawamba Co. MS. So also Bazzelle and Holland Lindsey (just examples, but believe they may be cousins). In the 1820 census index for Lauderdale Co. listed Sally Lindsey, Phillips Lindsey, and Bolly (sp?-Billy) Lindsey. Not know the ages, ect., I know that Josiah had a sister named Sally that married John N.P. Harder around 1823/24. Maybe the Sally listed is the mother and Phillips and Bolly are older siblings? Ok, Folks. I need some help. My Sanders Phillips born about 1812 in Chatham County, NC, was listed in the 1840 Marshall County (TN) Census. Then again in the 1850 Lauderdale County, AL, census - with a marriage recorded in Lauderdale County (AL) in 1845 - his seond marriage. My direct ancestor is John Thomas Phillips listed as one year old in the 1850 census. This is the deal - how can I find out more about his existence in Marshall County?? I have emailed their list and submitted queries but never a hint of a response! I am President of our Tishomingo County (MS) Historical and Genealoical Society as well as a look-up volunteer and realize the amount of time to answer - but surely someone can help in some way. Greetings, I have for many years been researching my gr gr grandfather NATHAN DAVIS (1786 - ?) who's son was named LEVI FOWLER DAVIS (1819 - 1888) NATHAN DAVIS was first found by this researcher in LAUDERDALE COUNTY ALABAMA. NATHAN DAVIS was in Lauderdale Co. from about 1821 until about 1842, when he moved to DESOTO COUNTY, MS. Family legend has NATHAN DAVIS coming from South Carolina, but I have never been able to locate the place of his birth nor who his parents were. I offer the following information in hopes of finding additional information about NATHAN DAVIS These are assumptions only: Nathan was first married to EMILY FOWLER in South Carolina. EMILY FOWLER was the child of MARTHA O> FOWLER and LEVI FOWLER. MARTHA O> FOWLER came to Lauderdale County Alabama with her daughter and her son-in-law NATHAN. EMILY FOWLER DAVIS died about 1819 at the birth or complications from the birth of her son LEVI FOWLER DAVIS. Her mother MARTHA FOWLER and Nathan's 2nd wife EMILY McLUSTER (McALLISTER) raised LEVI FOWLER DAVIS. Facts: LEVI FOWLER DAVIS married NANCY GERMAN (JARMAN, GARMAN) in Monroe County Mississippi in 1841. MARTHA O. FOWLER has a headstone in the Wesley Chaple Methodist church cemetery in Lauderdale Co. Alabama, which says: MARTHA O. FOWLER, wife of LEVI FOWLER and gives her birthdate as 6 May 1769 and her death date 11 July 1841. There is no headstone for LEVI FOWLER in this cemetery. They were married 11 June, 1882 in Lauderdale Alabama. Thier son was V. Ed White b. 1 April,1883 in Alabama, he married Lila Belle Phillips. Ed White shot and killed himself 10/19/1931 in Lawerence Co. Tn. (newspaper says St. Truitt & near Peppertown) One of their children, Turner Lee White was born in 1907 near Lexinton Alabama.m. Pearl Wiley of Lawernce Co.,Tn. He died in 1978 in Sikeson Missouri. My grandfather, William Franklin Chandler, was born in AR unknown county April 11, 1905 to Frank Chandler and Sarah Margot "Ada" Chambers Davis Dunn. I am assuming that they were married in either Tishomingo Co. MS or Franklin/ Colbert County AL sometime after November 1900 when Ada's second husband, Walter Dunn, died. For some reason, they went to AR after Frank and Ada married. After my grandfather was born, Frank died. Ada returned to AL with her children. What I do know: Frank had a son, Chester H. Chandler, born February 25, 1895 and died March 22, 1933. Chester and wife, Mary L. "unknown" born January 13, 1898 died December 16, 1970, are buried at Gargis Cemetery Lawrence Co. AL. They had about 4 children, Juanita, Alice, William?, and Robert?. Juanita and Alice are in a photo of CC Smith Jr High 1932 with John S. Pearce as teacher. Frank may or maynot be his first name. My granfather was called Frank and until I was grown did not know that his first name was William. After obtaining grandpa's SS App I found his middle name was Franklin. Searching for information on ancestors and descendants of my great grandparents, John C. Commander Burch and Mary Jane Nix. Lived in Lauderdale Co. between 1897-1903. Migrated to Lawrence Co. Tennessee, then to Texas. The family farmed and could have possibly operated a saw mill. They had 14 children. A 1900 Lauderdale Co. census index lists John C. Burch as well as a James C.
