    1. [ALLAUDER] Need help with story for newspaper w/Monday 10-18 deadline
    2. Hello -- My name is Patricia Hartley and I write occasionally for the Times Daily on a freelance basis. I am currently working on some stories for an upcoming feature insert on Senior Living in the Shoals. One, entitled "Gathering Places", focuses on the many interests and meeting places of seniors and retirees in the area; the other addresses the subject of seniors volunteering their time. As a subscriber to the list and frequent visitor to the Florence Lauderdale Public Library, I am aware of how many Shoals residents are interested in geneaology, spending hours at work in the courthouses and library. Here is where I need your assistance. If you are a senior in the Shoals who spends time on genealogy (alone or with a group; at home, at the library or at other meeting places) or volunteers time at the library or courthouse, please e-mail a short statement to me at PBHartley@aol.com. I will be working on the stories all evening (as my deadline is tomorrow), and will be logging back on tonight to see if I have any responses. Thanks so much for your interest. By the way, my Lauderdale County lines are THREET, JARMON, GRAY, BRYANT and WALDROP. Patricia Hartley

    3. I can't remember if I have posted this lately. But here goes. Does anyone research the Myrick name? Joetta King married Henry J. Myrick in Lauderdale Co., Al. in 1887. They were in the 1900 Lauderdale Co. Census, but believed to have moved to El Paso, TX. after this. Possibly, Calvin and Catherine Myrick may be Henry J. Myrick''s parents. I found them in the 1870 Lauderdale Co. Census with a son named Jackson-age 6 (1864). This was the approximate year of Henry J. Myrick's birth in the 1900 census. Could the J. in Henry J. stand for Jackson? Joetta and Henry had at least 4 children, maybe more: Mavis, Fannie, Mollie, and Frank. Can anyone help? Judy
