Hi: I am attempting to contact descendants of Benjamin Washington "Doc" Watson (1848-1919), of Lauderdale County, AL. This includes the following....children of Elma Oder Watson, married Robert N Baggett.....(2) Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Watson, married Jesse Polk Comer (3) Neely Moore Watson, married Mary C Comer. All of the above mentioned "Watsons" are my 1st cousins, once removed, or second cousins, whichever you prefer. It is believed that many of their offspring remain in Lauderdale County, but not knowing their names, I have no way to contact them for inclusion in the "Benjamin Washington Watson" Family Tree. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Willard Stallings Rt 2 Box 518 Maben, MS 39750 whs1235@aol.com

Hi, Everyone, I would appreciate if someone would look up information concerning my great grandmother...Hattie Alma Branum. She died in 1931 and is probably buried in the Paulk/Darby cemetary. I do not have her parents or siblings nor any information concerning her birth and location. She married my great grandfather, John Chester Paulk in 1902 in Lauderdale County. They had three children, Samuel, Embree, and James Joseph (my grandfather). All of these have passed away. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Found this obit in some old photos. It was in the Times Daily but no page or date is listed. I know it happened between 1968 and 1988. William Winston Smith, Route 14, Florence, died Saturday at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, Florence. He was a native of Lauderdale County, a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Greenview Memorial Park with the Rev. Buren Roberts officiating. Elkins and Son Funeral Home, Florence, is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie D. Smith, Florence; sisters, Mrs Alice Davis, Mrs. Helen Young, both of Florence, Mrs. Alma Long, Birmingham, Mrs. Blanch Clopton, Enterprise. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Mrs. Marion O. Woodley, 76, Route 1, Anderson, died Saturday at Eliza Coffee memorial Hospital, Florence, after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Elkins and Son Funeral Home, Florence. I have some information to share and also a question. We were at the Lone Star Cemetery near Point, Rains County, Texas, yesterday and saw a Texas Historical Marker and a tall headstone for ISAAC NEWTON GRESHAM, b. Feb. 28, 1858, (on headstone; marker had Feb. 20, 1858); d. April 10, 1906. The marker was in memory of his founding the Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union of America and stated that he had been a native of ALABAMA. There was also another marker at the foot, dedicated "to the memory of its illustrious founder on the 50th anniversary of the Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union of America". The tree-trunk shaped headstone also had a Woodmen of the World insignia at the top. As I am a NEWTON descendant, I am curious if ISAAC NEWTON GRESHAM was related to the NEWTONs of Lauderdale County or Lawrence County, Tn. Does anyone know? Peggy Horton Marshall, Tx.
