Searching for the Owen family living in Lauderdale County in the early to mid 1800's. Jefferson Owen had a son, Samuel Owen, a grandson Thomas Jefferson Owen (my great grandfather). Thanks for any assistance. Mazie
Peggy, I think you might be interested in the latest bulletin of *Tennessee Ancestors* published by the East TN Historical Society. Vol. 15, No. 3, December 1999, has Part III "Hosea Rose, Bennet Rose and the Rose Half-Siblings of Col. Leeroy Taylor and Col. Permenas Taylor of Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee" written by Carl J. York of Knoxville, TN This edition has over 30 pages on the subject, which I more or less just skimmed because it is not my line of interest, but did notice the Lauderdale AL in it so it got my attention. I don't immediately see the other surnames you mention. It does talk about Bennet Rose and Zachariah Rose in Lauderdale. I think you might like to contact this organization and order a copy, and perhaps the first 2 parts too. The web site is http://www.east-tennessee-history.org (It doesn't seem to have any information about ordering bulletins on it) There is an email contact address: eths@east-tennessee-history.org which would probably be your best bet. I suppose it would be a nice thing for me to contribute my copy to the Lauderdale Library. I'll try to remember to do that, unless you want to give them the material yourself.
