    1. [ALLAUDER] Search engine added to the web page
    2. Pat M. Mahan
    3. Well, I finally 'bit the bullet' and added a search engine to the Lauderdale web site. It will take you to the page[s] - but you will have to search the page after it comes up for your name. It's located just below the CONTENT table on the home page. I've tried it - just a little - but ya'll go give it a workout and let me know what you think. Pat ps - Our neighbor to the north [Wayne Co TN] recently added the same search engine, so I figured I'd better 'keep up with THE BYLER!<g>

    3. Good Morning All, The past couple of days I've been uploading some files, and adding some links to the web page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~allauder/marriage-wall-thornberry.htm submitted by Jean McCullough - this is a picture of an 1836 marriage license, and is basically what the licenses look like from 1820 through at least 1857 or so. She also included a typed transcription. http://www.rootsweb.com/~allauder/stjoebaseballteam.htm This was originally submitted by Pat McDonald, but not all of the men were identified. They are now, thanks to Betty Mason. http://www.rootsweb.com/~allauder/miscobits.htm Angela Morgan Cox has contributed the obituaries of Rev. William Jackson Webb and Lucinda C. Webb. Many thanks to Jean, Pat, Betty, and Angela. In addition, I have put up: http://www.rootsweb.com/~allauder/marriages.htm The WPA copies of Marriage Books 1 and 2. More abstracts of obits from the Florence Times Daily - 1991 - 1995 - have been loaded on the USGenWeb pages. I have linked to these from the Obituary page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~allauder/obits.htm So grab a cup of java, sit back, and browse a while. Pat

    1. DAVIS, NATHAN SC>AL>MS
    2. Greetings, Did NATHAN DAVIS come to LAUDERDALE COUNTY AL from NEWBERRY COUNTY SC? I have for many years been researching my gr gr grandfather NATHAN DAVIS (1786 - ?) who's son was named LEVI FOWLER DAVIS (1819 - 1888) NATHAN DAVIS was first found by this researcher in LAUDERDALE COUNTY ALABAMA. NATHAN DAVIS was in Lauderdale Co. from about 1821 until about 1842, when he moved to DESOTO COUNTY, MS. Family legend has NATHAN DAVIS coming from South Carolina, but I have never been able to locate the place of his birth nor who his parents were. I offer the following information in hopes of finding additional information about NATHAN DAVIS. Nathan was first married to EMILY FOWLER.. EMILY FOWLER was the child of MARTHA ODELL (DUCKETT) FOWLER and LEVI FOWLER, b 6 May, 1769, d 17 Apr., 1819 in Newberry Co., SC MARTHA ODELL (DUCKETT) FOWLER came to Lauderdale County Alabama with her two daughters, EMILY, NANCY, her son ELIJAH and her son-in-law NATHAN. EMILY FOWLER DAVIS died about 1819 at the birth or complications from the birth of her son LEVI FOWLER DAVIS. Emily's mother, MARTHA FOWLER and Nathan's 2nd wife EMILY McALUSTER (McALLISTER) raised LEVI FOWLER DAVIS. LEVI FOWLER DAVIS married NANCY GERMAN (JARMAN, GARMAN) in Monroe County Mississippi in 1841. NANCY GERMAN was the daughter of JOSEPH (JOE) GERMAN and VIRGINIA (JENNY) (MCCANDLESS) GERMAN. MARTHA ODELL (DUCKETT) FOWLER has a headstone in the Wesley Chapel Methodist church cemetery in Lauderdale Co. Alabama, which says: MARTHA O. FOWLER, wife of LEVI FOWLER and gives her birthdate as 6 May 1769 and her death date 11 July 1841. There is no headstone for LEVI FOWLER in this cemetery. If anyone can offer additional information, it would be appreciated. Bob Davis 13117A NW 8th Ave. Vancouver, WA. 98685 (360) 574-1624

    2. James Steve Sanders
    3. At the present time, I have no connection to Gilford Dudley King, but I have worked on his family a little bit in the hope that he might be connected. My King's were in 1850 Lauderdale Co., AL. census (Catherine King household with children: William A., Arnold (John J. Arnold or J.J.A.), Stephen, Emeline, Joseph, George, and Luke). Since my King's and Gilford D. King were in Lauderdale Co. about the same time and lived in the same general area, I thought there might be some connection. Does anyone out there know the parentage of Gilford King or his siblings. I have found 3 theories on who they might be, but I don't think one has been proven, yet.. Judy

    3. I have posted this before and I have received some responses. In case there is someone new on this list, Here goes again. 1850 Lauderdale Co., AL. Census Catherine King-44-NC William A.-22-NC. Arnold-20-NC Stephen-18-AL. Emeline-15-AL. Joseph-14-AL. George-11-AL. Luke-7-AL. No proof of Catherine's husband, but James M. King in 1840 Lauderdale Co., AL. Census is a possibility. Basically, that is what I am trying to find-who Catherine's husband was and the father of her children. I have info on most of these children, except Joseph. If anyone knows anything at all, please contact me. Judy

We corrected it a little while ago.. but I wanted to let you know that this virus came in a e-mail from a friend it said "Hey You" as the subject..The message was talking about getting the pictures scanned so I assumed it was genealogy pictures..but instead it was a virus.. It is called MINE.EXE. Do not download this if you get one. It takes the names you have in your buddy list, etc and sends a copy of the virus to them and says it was sent by you. AOL Keyword: VIRUS has the the Trojan remover you need to get rid of it. Be careful guy.. Charlotte Killen Borden
