Friends of the Rogersville Public Library did a survey of all cemeteries that could be located in east Lauderdale County AL. The Anderson Cemetery located at Anderson is in the book. The book may be picked up at the Rogersville Public Library for $35.00. If to be mailed, send a check for $38.50 to Friends of Rogersville Public Library, P.O. Box 26, Rogersville, AL 35652. For those who are working on the Wright family, I had forgotten about some nice articles in the Heritage of Lauderdale County book recently released. It also says the old John Wright came from Scotland to NC, but no particular documentation is mentioned. There are articles entitled Wright Families, Arthur Bailey Wright, James lafayette Wright, John Wright, and Tommy Lee Wright Family. They seem to be well-done, and would surely be of interest to most of us. I have not yet entered it all in my database, but certainly need to do so. PatMc
Can anyone tell me who I can contact about Anderson Cemetery? Is there a cemetery listing's book with this one in it? Thanks, Gayle
Is there anyone on this list that lives in or near Wright? If so, would you please contact me privately. Thanks, Pat M. Mahan
I believe the John Wright who married Bethana (or Bethany) Jones is thought to be a son of the old John Wright born in Scotland. This younger John, and his brother moved to Lauderdale after their military service. The John born 26 Apr 1825 is son of John (II) and Bethany/Bethana. He is thought to have married Nancy Ritter born 15 Jul 1825. There may be some disagreement among various researchers, but here is what I am showing. I welcome documentation from other people. Last year I had a gentleman on this list offer to help me with a planned visit to the Beard Cemetery in Cloverdale. I had a computer crash and have foolishly misplaced the hard copy of the note, would you contact me again at: mwebb@iswt.com ? Last week I took a ride down to Lauderdale Co. and visited the community of Cloverdale. I rode my motorcycle and had a very good time visiting with some of the people there. It's a very pretty place. I was trying to find the Beard family plot, without success. I am researching the family of Jabez Beard b. 1790 in Bedford Co., VA and he came to Lauderdale Co. around 1833. He is buried in the Beard family cemetery about three miles from Cloverdale. His son, Henry, was born there in Dec. 12, 1825. Joined the confederate army and served with Oneal's AL infantry. He was wounded at the battle of Baton Rouge, LA and came to Gibson Co., TN some time after. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for the cemetery in Alabama where my Grandmother was buried. She was Ella Kyle married to Adam Kyle. Adam dropped dead in downtown Bessemer, Ala on Nov. 29, 1912. I believe that Ella (maiden name Ella Kennamer) died in Birmingham, Ala. in 1927. She may have been married to a Hassel when she died. Any information will be helpful. Thanks. Wgv.
