Here's another part of the big north Lauderdale web. This family is PROPOSED, based on 1840 Lauderdale census, marriage records, and other clues. No proof of children of Moses Ross!!!!!!! Apparently he died before 1850, when his presumed widow (Lavina/Adlina/Lena/whatever) is living with her daughter. Moses not found in 1830 census, but his two married children are in the census of Lauderdale. 1840 Census Lauderdale Co AL. p. 121(52) [Mahan] #6 - Ross, M. <Moses> 000,100,000,1-00121001 It is my suspicion this is the same Moses Ross who is shown in 1820 Edgefield SC. Although a close neighbor, he doesn't seem to be related to LOVING ROSS, who was also in early Lauderdale, as was Loving's sister--Susannah Ross Holland. There was a Jeremiah McCluskey in 1800 Edgefield SC. Could these people have known each other in SC, with connection going farther back??? Henry and Judith Nabors/Neighbors Hill appear in 1800 Greenville SC census. There are three McDonald marriages here. Two are siblings (Hannah and Berry), but the other one (Elias - my direct), is not related that we can find, although all seem to be from SC. Hannah Ross's children are named in the estate settlement of Berry McDonald, who did not have any children. Notice that almost all the Ross children name a son William. Meaning unknown to me. Any additions, corrections, clues greatly appreciated. Pat McDonald, mmcdonald3@houston.rr.com Descendants of Moses Ross 1 Moses Ross b: Bet. 1760 - 1770 in ? Scotland d: Bet. 1840 - 1850 in ? Place of birth in VA? I have confirmed from a 19th century family Bible that James W (not M)STEWART was born in VA, but don't know exact county. Any information you may have regarding Labin may help us connect this mystery. Our legend was that they never found the third brother. Since James and Labin were both born in VA, it is unlikely the story concerned them. Do you have any documentation? Bible records etc? Thanks for the clue. Reese
Hi all, I have a gggrandfather, Henry Beard, from Lauderdale Co. that served in the CW for the Confederacy. He migrated to West TN after the war and filed for a pension there under TN State law at the time. The problem is he filed for the wrong unit it seems and was denied. His pension application states he served with the 26th Inf (Oneal's) and was wounded at Baton Rouge, LA. Oneal's 26th was never at Baton Rouge. However the 26/50th Inf was. Can someone help? Hi, Correcting an error on the previous post. It was the 1880 TN census, not the 1850 census that listed James Samuel Burney as born in Alabama. Does anybody have access to the 1860 Lauderdale County census? He should be around 5 years old at that time. Hopefully he shows up with his family there. I appreciate ANY help. Rick I'm researching a James Samuel Burney family from TN. The 1850 TN census lists him as born in Alabama. I suspect he may be a descendant of the Samuel Burney Sr or Jr families who lived in Lauderdale County in the early 1800s. Does anyone have any info on the descendants of Samuel Sr, Samuel Jr, or other Burneys who may have migrated north to TN or KY?? My BURNEY connection is below. Also in Alabama with Samuel Burney Sr were Henry Moorehead and Charles Moorhead (later Muirhead) whose descendents later hooked up with my RUSSELL side of the family. Both Samuel Burney SR and Charles Moorehead were in the Revolutionary War. Thanks, Rick Russell 28. James Hiram WALLACE was born on Mar 3 1882 in Water Valley, Kentucky. He died on Jun 25 1954 in Doniphan, Missouri. Died at home. He was buried on Jun 27 1954 in Bellview Cemetery, Bellview Baptist Church. Searching for information on Griffin Reed that married Eliza Hannah Jenkins in Lauderdale Co., on dec 25 1834. They had 2 daughters together, Mary E. Reed and Georgiana Reed. The last name may also be spelled REID. He is believed to have died before Aug 25 1842 when Eliza Hannah Jenkins remarried to Julius House. They had eight children before he died abt. 1866-1870. Eliza Hannah Jenkins is my g.g.g.grandmother through one of her daughter that she had with Julius House. The REED daughters would be 1/2 related and wish to find out about their descendants. It is reasonable to believe that Mary E. Reed did not marry for she was still living with her mother in 1870, at age 30, helping her mother with the children, the youngest of which was 4 years old. That would put her youngest daughter at 14 when Eliza Hannah Jenkins died. Georgiana Reed is believed to possibly married. Although I haven't been able to trace a marriage record for her in Alabama. She is last seen in the Household with her mother in the 1860 Lauderdale Co., Census. At approx. age of 22. Any information about this Reed family is sought. Thanks, Amanda Hester Baltz Walleyland@aol.com

Thanks to all that responded to my posting for Julius House of Lauderdale Co., Alabama. This is my last attempt to find someone on this list that can link my Julius House to his parents. Many seem to think it he may be the son of William House, Jr. of Brunswick Co., VA and Ann Green. If anyone knows I sure you would have told me by now but maybe someone got left out of the discussion. Here is what I posted: I am searching for information on Julius House who married Eliza Hannah Jenkins in Lauderdale Co., Florence Alabama. And is buried there also. Julius House is thought to have been born in Wake Co., NC. Searching for Parents and Siblings of his. I have compiled quite a chart of descendants of his and wish to further my genealogy research. I have already traced the line of Eliza Hannah Jenkins and wish to do Julius House's. Any information please e-mail to Walleyland@aol.com. Good Afternoon Everyone, The good news - I've just finished putting up several new pictures - from Alison Collignon, Tracy Littrell Williams, and Betty Pennington - most of which fall into the UNKNOWN category. THANKS to all of you. Also, Nancy Gooch's next installment of the WW1 draft cards has been added - Thanks Nancy, we all know how busy you are right now! And, Barbara King has contributed the Michael (aka Pettus) Cemetery which she surveyed the 13th of this month. Thanks Barbara. And, now, the BAD news: If you sent me anything between the 22 of May and the 15th of June please RE-SEND - I am not going to go into the headaches one is occasionally dealt by a computer, but I will say that I'm ready to bury one! Regards, Pat
