The Wayne County, Tennessee History and Genealogy Page is pleased to announce that the complete transcription of the first existing volume of County Court Minutes for Wayne County, Tennessee (from Sept 1848 to June 1854) is now on-line at http://www.netease.net/wayne/countycourt.htm The publication consists of the 469 pages of this first surviving minute book and is full of administrative appointments, guardianship reports, estate settlements, petitions for the sale of land and slaves, road overseer appointments and many other county government related activities. This is as complete a transcription (not an abstract) as I could make from the original book. Only certain standard bonds for county officials were not transcribed completely since they merely repeat the same wording as the first ones transcribed. There is no "index" for the volume, but it is included in the main page search engine. Very special thanks to Barbara W. Wallace and Pat Foster for doing the input from the transcriptions in the first five volumes of the "The Wayne County HIstorian". These were not available on computer as were the installments from Volumes 6, 7 & 8. Happy Hunting Edgar

This is all the information I have on them. Taken from the book Kith and Kin of James and Mary (Kellough) Young-SC(1786) to Alabama (1818) by Miriam Young Pack. William Birdsong Young was married to Mary Reeder DARBY. "Mary Reeder Darby, his first wife, was the daughter of John Henry and Martha(Williams) DARBY and the granddaughter of Phillip and Nancy (Davis) DARBY. Phillip DARBY was one of the first residents of the northern section of Lauderdale Co., near Cloverdale. He, along with three others blazed his way through the forests form Tennessee for 75 miles, about 1816." This was originally words out of Rufus DARBY, Genealogy of the Darby Family: Joseph Darby of Anne Arundel Co. Md.(Atlanta: Publ. by author, 1953), p.9. and from Jill K. Garrett, A History of Lauderdale County Alabama (by the author,1964),p.36. Other than this entry in the Kith and Kin book and a gedcom file on the descendants of Phillip Darby on Ancestry.com are the only things I have been able to find on Philip. I want to try to locate the Genealogy on the Darby family Book above but don't know where to begin. Does anyone know who may have a copy of this book that it references above or where I can start looking for it?
