This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------0253A1F3B9018632CB71C8B2 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I am seeking the parentage of my G-Grandfather, PINCKNEY COLUMBUS PORTER. 1. PINCKNEY COLUMBUS1 PORTER was born June 20, 1849 in Lexington, Lauderdale Alabama, and died March 21, 1923 in Point, Rains County TX. He married MARGARET OLIVE WHITE September 13, 1867 in Lauderdale County Alabama, daughter of WILLIAM WHITE and ELIZA BARNETT. She was born October 14, 1847 in Lexington, Alabama Lauderdale County, and died December 08, 1918 in Rains County, Texas near the towns of Point & Lone Oak, near Lake Tawakoni. The History of Rains County documents JAMES H. PORTER, a 17 year old, coming to Texas about 1888, with the family, in a covered wagon train. I do not know the relationship between James and P.C. James could have been a brother, cousin, or uncle. James is buried at the Lone Star Cemetary near Point, Texas. James was born March 19, 1871, died in Rains County September 21, 1911. He married Maggie L. Maggie is buried beside him, she was born 1873 and died 1953. The History of Rains County also documents a half-brother, FRANK PRINCE, coming to Texas with the family. I have found no other information on Frank Prince. The Prince Family may be a good lead to follow on the parentage of P.C. Any information will be appreciated. Good Morning All, My Hindman family arrived in Lauderdale County around 1830. I have never found even a hint of the route they took from Spartanburg, SC. I assume it wasn't by the Tennessee River unless they went at an optimum time and maybe made the last part of the trip by wagon. Do any of you know how your kin made the trip? Carol from California
