Greetings listers, I need a little help here. Are there any descendants of the following marriage subscribed here? Winifred McCARLEY who married James WILLIAMS February 3, 1820, in Lauderdale County, Alabama. I'm trying to prove a link between Thomas M. McCarley (possible Brother of Winifred) and the Thomas T. Mccarley listed in the 1840 Lauderdale co. census at the age of 60-70 years. Thomas M. Mccarley died in 1839 and left probate papers in Lauderdale co. Thomas T. is listed among the buyers of property. There where several Mccarley marriages around this time frame of 1820 and I'm leaning toward the possibility that Thomas T. Mccarley may be the Father of them all (unproved at this point). Any help or leads will be greatly appreciated. Roseanne, I am a descendant of David Adams and Betsey Fielder. I am one of several Adams researchers who has run into a brick wall at Betsey Fielder. We have thought that Betsey and Susannah Fielder, who married David's brother Daniel Adams, were sisters but have been unable to find their parents. Do you have any information on this Daniel Fielder? Also, how is David Adams' second wife Vicy Haynes connected to your Haynes? -----Original Message----- From: Roseanne Cain [mailto:RCAIN@columbus.rr.com] Sent: Thursday, February 08, 2001 5:43 PM To: ALLAUDER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ALLAUDER] ADAMS Jim, try the link below. At Pat's suggestion, I am submitting the following, although others may not have the 'never-thought-of-that' syndrome that seems to afflict me more and more as each year passes. I did not realize "Nias" was commonly used as a nick-name for my g-grandfather, even though it had been written "at Nias Newton's" on the marriage license of one of his daughters -- I thought that was just a fluke since his name appears as "W. A. Newton" a little further down on the license. No detail is too small to help find that one document we may need. While trying to obtain information on my g-grandmother, I have learned more about her sister than I know about my actual g-grandmother, and I hope someone will recognize a possible connection with this JACKSON family. I don't know if Robert JACKSON lived in Lauderdale Co., AL., or Lawrence Co., TN., but believe the family lived in or close to the Lexington, Lauderdale Co., AL., area even though I have not found them as a family on any census. All I have is: Robert JACKSON, (b. SC) and his wife (possibly born in Mississippi) had at least three daughters: Mary JACKSON (b. ?) -- my g-grandmother Sallie (? possible nick-name for Sarah?) JACKSON (b?) Amanda Elizabeth JACKSON -- (b. 1858, d. 1920?) Amanda was married to Samuel H. BUTLER (b. 1853, d. 1914), son of John W. BUTLER and Margaret (Peggy) HERSTON (b. 24 Oct. 1812; d. 14 Feb., 1888) and grandson of Gabriel W. BUTLER and Sallie WHITESIDES. On the Lauderdale County, AL., marriage license of Amanda and Samuel, it states: "That the above named parties were married by me at JOHN JACKSON'S on the 26 day of October A. D. 1873." Was JOHN part of her father's name, or was he a brother or an uncle to Amanda? Amanda and Samuel are listed on the 1880 Lauderdale County, AL., census, along with a couple of their sons and their nephew (my grandfather), Emmet E. JOICE, son of Mary JACKSON JOICE/JOYCE. A widow, Mary married a Robert CATE(S)/KATE(S) in 1885 and had two daughters, Ida and Lillie. Names of the families that Amanda and Samuel BUTLER's children married into are: NIPPER, DISON, HERSTON, PORTER, SWINEA, RICHARDSON, STUTTS. Any information, no matter how slim a lead, will be appreciated. I am beginning to think "they" just appeared out of thin air and also disappeared in thin air. Peggy J. Horton Marshall, Tx.
Listmembers If anyone has access to records of death in Sheffield or burial in Florence, I need an exact date, if possible. We wish to complete the tombstone of a family member who is buried in Florence in the old family plot. His last son died last week at age 88 and we are afraid this won't get done. His name was William L. Fulton. He was born in 1872 in Iuka Mississippi. He died in 1956 and probably lived in Sheffield. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Even a phone humber at the cemetry would help) Thanks in advance. Jean Jjarr34452@aol.com
