I want to say a big THANK YOU to all that responded to my question about the 1880 Census. I have finally gotten the original copy of the Census record. Boy, what a job. But I so appreciate the help. Trecia researching the Hitchcock's, Futrell's
Sometimes the link breaks at Ancestry. Look for them in the index on FamilySearch.org in the free 1880 Census index. while you can't "see" the original census page, you'll have to wait for the link to get repaired, you can see the household members neighbors, etc. Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: <TGrif93021@aol.com> To: <ALLAUDER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 14, 2004 8:02 PM Subject: 1880 Census Record of Lauderdale Co. I'm a great granddaughter of James T Henson and Elmira Whitten, who died around 1885-95 in Lauderdale Co and were buried at Murphy Chapel Cemetery. Trying to determine where the children went upon the death of their parents. Elmira died first (causes and date unknown). I found one of their children, Nancy Jane, age 6 living with the Isac Spain family in the 1880 census, listed as their niece. Elmira was still alive in 1880. Eventually the children went to the Waco, TX area. I'm told they lived with a Spain family there, too.
Is there anyone on list doing research on Flora F. Utley who married thomas F. Marlar in Benton Co., TN on 8/28/1900. Their child, Sally Myrtle, married John Murphy and I believe one of their descendants married into a Cabler line in Lauderdale Co. I am editor of the Gossett Gazette and we are trying to locate all the descendants of Henry and Margaret Burns Gossett who were Myrtle's great-grandparents. Her grandmother was Sarah Gossett who married Martin Van Buren Utley. I would appreciate any info or contact. Thanks, Glenda

Can anyone find me information regarding the marriage of JOHN SAMUEL LONG and MARGRET A. GIBBS in February 1865? Thank you, Dianne

Anyone with interest in 3rd District, Lawrence Co., TN? We have just carried our book "On The Banks of Sugar Creek" to the publisher. Only a few are being printed at this time. The book is about the Appleton community, with pictures. The cemeteries we have read and copied and tried to find parents, spouses, obituaries or other articles we have found in the newspapers about the deceased are: Dobbins, Old Appleton, Owens, Hindsley, Freeman Cemetery, Griffin Cemetery, Gibbins Cemetery, Mt. Zion Cemetery, Fall River Cemetery, Job Garner Cemetery, Smith Cemetery near Fall River, Sexton Cemetery, and Richardson/Crabb Cemetery where Frank James is buried. We added an article about Frank James, some genealogy (Warren, McMasters, Dobbins, Appleton, and Hendrix), and pictures of school groups, school houses, churches, cemeteries and pictures of some people that lived on the banks of Sugar Creek. The books will be $40.00 picked up or $45.00 dollars if mailed. This is in Lawrence County, TN. Sue Davis sdavis5391@usit.net Linda Dean ljdean27@hotmail.com
