    2. I am unable to receive the digest in the manner it is being sent. I have no trouble receiving the rootsweb general digest. What do I need to do? I see no inline text, just forwarded notes that are not on my server. I would guess the link to the data has been broken. 1. Minton
    2. Hello list, Im trying to research the whereabouts of George W. Minton after 1880. Marriage records indicate he married Moussury (Missouri) Long in 1882. I believe that Missouri may be the same one that I have been searching for as the sister of my g-grandfather. Any help from anyone who might have information regarding this couple after 1882 would be so greatly appreciated. I believe Missouri Long to be the daughter of William Long and granddaughter to Mikel and Nancy (Webb) Long. Anyone....HELP Thanks, Darryl Long Arcata, Ca.

    1. Mildred Kimbrough death
    2. I was told that Mildred Kimbrough had died in January. I had lost touch with her. I met Mildred about 20 years ago. She was one fine lady. She took me and my aunt to Blue Water Creek and to the Coffee-Fritts Cemetery. Thomas Graves Coffee and his family lived at Blue Water Creek and he and his wife Mary Knight Coffee are buried in the Coffee cemetery. Carlisle Woodson Knight, my g-g-grandfather, is also buried there. He was married to their granddaughter Caroline Cordelia Frances Jackson. Mildred and I both descend from Elizabeth Woodson Coffee who married Stewart Jackson. Her g-g-grandmother was Catherine Cassandra Amanda Melvina Woodson Jackson who married Dempsey Bulls. Wil all those beautiful names she was called "Kate." Was told by one of the Jackson "cousins" that her genealogy papers were given to someone in Lauderdale county (Pat Mahan/Myhan). Is this our list-mom? If so wonder if there is any info in those papers about The Jackson, Coffee, Knight and related families by pertain to my part of the family. Thanx. Betty.

    1. Wright-Howie-Sharp
    2. Hello, I'm trying to piece a family together from the 1870 Lauderdale County census. I have the following and need some verification: WRIGHT, Richard 33 Lizzie 29 Dora 5 Minnie 1 SHARP John 16 I believe that John SHARP is son of John SHARP and Nancy BALENTINE. John, Jr is living with sister Elizabeth. I found a marriage for Richard W RIGHT and Elizabeth SHARP - 24 Dec 1868 in Lauderdale County. I also found a marriage for R W WRIGHT and Jane HOWIE - 20 Aug 1864 also in Lauderdale County. I think in the 1870 census that Jane has died leaving daughter Dora and Richard has remarried Elizabeth and they now have a daughter. Can someone verify this for me. Thanks Adele Greene Visalia CA

Mary was b. abt 1825. The 1850 census states Mary was b. in AL. Sarah WARD was their mother. I do not know the first name of Mr. PARRIS, their father. Perhaps Sarah WARD remarried after her marriage to Mr. PARRIS, or WARD could be her maiden name, pursuant to the custom of widows taking back their maiden names. Lucinda PARRIS m. 3. Good Morning All, You are absolutely correct Marion. The message is not about Lauderdale County, Alabama genealogy or history, and, as such has no place on this list. As list administrator, I should have said something before, but I had hoped not to have to comment on this, but now I have no choice. Today's politics [and religious preferences while I'm at it] are two subjects that are definitely NOT to be discussed on this list. If these subjects are among your interest, I'm sure there are lists for both at rootsweb or other places. They do not belong on this list. Both subjects have an unfortunate characteristic of hurting feelings and/or inducing anger. Hurt feelings and anger do not assist in our search for those who lived in the past. Please folks, do not send this type of message to the list in the future. To do so will get the sender put on moderation immediately. To continue with messages of this nature will get the sender unsubscribed. And, if one does come through the list, DO NOT reply to the list or the sender about it. Reply to me, Pat M. Mahan, at mahan123@comcast.net . If you have something you want to send to the list, but are not sure about it, contact me FIRST. Now, this subject, as far as the list is concerned, is closed. If you feel you absolutely have to comment on this, please do so to me, personally, not to the list. Let's all get back to genealogy and history. THIS WAS IN THE TAMPA BAY NEWSPAPER Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??? Think about it . . All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break.. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all! This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job, didn't he? Read on, please! IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE. If you agree -- pass this along; if you don't agree -- delete it! AMEN I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please ------------=_1090036115-22070-10-- ------------=_1090036115-22070-9-- --part1_ae.5ce29b24.2e29fb93_boundary-- ==== ALLAUDER Mailing List ==== Pat M. AMEN I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please ------------=_1090036115-22070-10-- ------------=_1090036115-22070-9-- --part1_ae.5ce29b24.2e29fb93_boundary--

    2. Steve Cooper
    3. The Wayne County Historical Society of Wayne County, Tennessee will hold their annual "History Fair" tomorrow, Saturday, July 10th, 2004 at Collinwood School, Collinwood, Tennessee. The History Fair starts at 9:00 A.M. and will continue until about 3:00 or 4:00 P.M. Dear Cuzons: Each year the Wayne County Historical Society does a great job and each of us that attend are able to find those persons that are researching some of the same families that we research. If you had ancestors that were/are in Wayne County, Tennessee you should try your best to attend. I plan to be there and will be looking for others that research the following surnames: Cooper, Balentine, Koonce, Sinclair, Roach, Hill, Duncan, Fowler, South, Randolph, Milford, Rodgers/Rogers/Rodjers, Nolan/Nolen/Noland, Sharp, Woods/Wood, Whitten, Howell, Wesson, Poindexter, Witherspoon, Horton, Ayers, Gillis, Phillips, Lee/Leigh, McKelvey, Faires/Farris, Paulk, Palmer, Lamb, Duckett, Neal, Irons, O'Kelley, Valentine, Young, Cathey, Ghrigsby and other connecting families. Stop by my table and "chat a spell". My wife is related to half of the folks in Wayne County. SteveCooper Cloverdale, Alabama STEVECOOPER75@COMCAST.NET
