    3. Ruthe, I looked up the entry you requested, but I cannot tell for certain what the surname is. The enumerator's handrwriting is terrible for one thing, and then the ink smear across the name covers at least half of the name. It definitely looks like the name ends in -ette but that is all that I can be certain about. Was Willie's father Benjamin F. Burnette with a wife named Jala or Julia? That is what is given on this sheet, then the children listed are Cora age 10, Rebeca age 8, Bula age 6, George W. age 5, and Willie age 7 months. Even though it seems unlikely, the children are all listed as having a mother born in Mississippi as was Jala/Julia. That would probably mean that she had Cora when she was 15, if Jala/Julia is the mother of all the children. Sorry that I couldn't be more definite about the name. Have you checked the 1870 census for them. Were they in Lamar County in 1870? I have that census also and would be willing to do a lookup if you can give me the page.
