    3. Hi- I"m new to the list. I'm not sure this is the right county, I saw Cathy Reisenger's name and some Guyton names so I assumed this may be the county my granfather was born in ,since I saw those names related to the same family I'm researching on worldconnect. Name: Seth L. (Jack) SMITH (L. is it for Leathan?) AKA: "Jack" Smith Birth: 1828 MS Death: 1910 TX Marriage 1 Matilda NOLEN b: 1831/1840 in North Carolina (d/o Leah and Lemuel Nolen) Children: 1.Mary J. SMITH 2.Sarah A. SMITH (Watkins/Wadkins?) 3.Frances Leora (Frank) SMITH (Frankie McCraw/McGraw? in TX in 1910) 4.Melinda S. (Lindy) SMITH (Hickman?) 5.Laura Delila SMITH (Andrews?) 6.John Franklin (Bud) SMITH b: 3 December 1866 AL m:Flora Alice Payne b:1874 AR 7.Nancy A. (Dumpy) SMITH (Hill?) Jack and Matilda are my ggrandparents, and child # 6, John Franklin"Bud" Smith is my grandfather. Jack was, supposedly, a Confederate soldier, his wife is buried in Finch Cemetery in Finch, AR. My Mom told me once(when she was alive) that JacK, her grandfather, came by their house on the way to Texas to visit his daughter Frankie McGraw in 1910. Mom had a baby brother at the time, Lowell Alonzo Smith. Her grandfather said ,"What did you name him?". When they told him, he said, "You should have named him Jack". So my Uncle Jack got a nickname, he is living in Paragould ,AR today and will soon be 90 years old. I would be interested in networking with anyone who is researching this family. I would also like to know what the Heritage Book contains. Is there an index of families covered in this book? And what about the Genealogical and Historical society, do they have records that go back to my grandfathers birth time 1866? And last but not least, does anyone know how to get info on Confederate Soldiers? I saw an S. Smith and a Nolen in the 11TH ALABAMA CAVALRY CSA list,in the same company, K, and wondered if that might be relatives. Thanks in advance for any help, Brenda.
