Sabra and Eric, I never signed a release of any sort for the article I submitted to be copyrighted. A review of Section 101 of the copyright law will show that this was NOT made for hire. Not allowing the information in the Heritage books to be copied is going against the ideals of many of those writing the articles and researching the families. The only reason I submitted any article was to share my information and hope to find others interested in my family. Now I hear that Heritage owns my story and I can't publish it if I want to??? Is the Heritage Book company a for-profit organization? I bought several books and know how expensive they are to publish. However, if the material published was obtained fraudulently, and the submitters were not informed of the intent; there is a problem. A response would be appreciated.
