    3. Dear Robie: There was no census for Lamar Co. in 1850. Lamar Co. did not become a county until 1877. The part of Lamar Co. the Rickmans lived in, near Fernbank, was within the boundaries of Fayette Co. that year. The Peter Rickman you inquire about was the son of Absalom T. and Shelotte (or Sarah, last name possibly Deborah) Rickman, of Pickens Co., AL. Both of them died young, and some of their children went to live with my relatives in Lamar Co.(Richard M. Baird, the son of Mahala Rickman Baird/Beard, Absalom's sister) before 1880. Peter was listed as a minor over 14 in 1880 (born 1866 or before), in his grandparents' estate records. You have Abe, or Abraham, but it is really Absalom. This is the only Peter I find that could fit as yours. Do you have access to the Heritage of Lamar Co. book that was just published? In it are 29 stories I wrote on this family of Rickmans. It goes back to the earliest identifiable ancestor, born about 1745, and goes to the present as far as I could find. I was not aware of what happened to your Peter. Please tell me where he went after he left Pickens Co. Thanks, Sabra
