Hi Dave & Julie, I want to throw another wrench into the Taylor family discussion. I have a marriage record for a John B. Taylor and Martha Caroline Hankins on 4 Jan 1871 in Sanford County, AL. Martha Caroline Hankins (b. abt 1852) was the daughter of John Miller Hankins and Martha Morton. 1860 Western Division, Millport P. O., Fayette County, AL (page 311): Dwelling #462, Family #462, Enumeration date: 6 Jul 1860 Real Estate Value $1000, Personal Property Value $800 Hankins, John M. D. 1876, the following persons signed the settlement: (parentheses are my comments) Signed: Martha Hankins, her mark (this is Martha Morton, wife of dec.) E. J. W. Moore (husband of Eliza J. Hankins) F. M. Hankins (is this Stephen Franklin ?) M. E. Taylor, his mark Martha Johnson (Martha Caroline Hankins Taylor, had she remarried?) Mary A. Taylor (Mary A. Hankins?, which Taylor did she marry?) F. J. Taylor, his mark L. J. Taylor J. H. Taylor, his mark W. J. Taylor (should this be William Jasper Hankins?) G. F. Taylor, his mark E. E. Priddy Witness: J. T. Thompson and D. G. W. Hollis Who are these Taylors? They are evidently heirs of John Miller Hankins but the only Taylor marriage into the family that I know for certain is that of Martha Caroline Hankins who married John B. Taylor. I don't have a spouse listed for Martha's sister, Mary A. Hankins, so she could be the Mary A. Taylor who is listed as an heir. We also know that John M. Hankins and Martha Morton had another daughter born before 1830, but we don't know her name: 1830 Fayette County, AL (page 169): John M. Hankins 1 male 20-30 1 male under 5 1 female 20-30 1 female under 5** **Could she be Tabitha Carolina Hankins (b. abt 1827) who was the second wife of William Burton Hankins? Does anyone have a list of their children? Do any of the initials of the Taylor children above match with the children of William Burton and Tabitha Caroline? Tabitha died about three years before her father's estate was settled, so her children should be heirs. Mollee
