    1. Dr. Ira G. Walden
    2. I am looking for data on a Dr. Ira G. Walden who married into my Holland line out of Mississippi. I had a response from a lady who said that she believes she saw his name in a book called "Gann Family" written by Eileen Gann of Beaverton, in Lamar County, AL. Does anyone have this book and could tell me if he is mentioned in it? Thanks for any help ... Robie

    1. ORear --near Detroit, AL.
    2. Jonathan Lowery
    3. My grgrgrandparents --Daniel ORear/Mahala Moore-- are buried at Kingsville Church of Christ Cemetery near Detroit, Lamar Co., AL. They lived in Walker Co., AL before moving to Lamar Co. abt. 1870. I am looking for information about their descendants and names of their spouses. Sons William, Jeremiah, and James later moved to Bowie Co., TX. I would think they would probably have married in Marion/Lamar Counties. I have pieced together the following which I believe to be correct: (but welcome any different information) 1-- William married Christina ? children: Newell ORear m. Cora Harbor 1-1-1903 in Marion Co. by Judge White Bill (called "B") Rosie married ?Mann and lived in Walker Co., AL. Girlie - Demp (m. ? Blocker & lived in Texarcana, TX) Eglandia (called Glennie) Rufus Dollie Babe (All their children except Rosie lived in Bowie Co., TX.?) 2 --Jeremiah "Jerry" b. abt. 1854 m. Eunice? Children: Walter, Wm. Emmit, Rosalee, Howard, Pearlie, George, Tom, Minnie, Cammie 3--James C. "Jim" ORear b. 1859 m.Laura ? Children: Hasting, Rosie 4-- Malinda b. abt. 1852 (Could this be the Malinda Johnson whose family is buried next to Daniel ORear/Mahala Moore at Kingsville Church of Christ Cemetery?) 5--Lucinda b. abt 1850 (Last found in 1860 Walker Co. Census) 6--Alice b. 1861 With parents in 1880 Lamar Co.Census 7--Margaret b. 1844 -- thought to have married a George? Williams and lived in Vernon, AL.? 8--Francis Marion ORear b. 1857 did he move to Texas? He is with parents in 1880 Lamar Co. Census 9--Minerva m. George S. McKay in 1869 d. Monroe Co, MS 10- John ORear m. Cressie Gann. I would appreciate any information. It is especially difficult to trace the females in this family. Wanda

    2. Allow me to also say that Tod and I are attempting to locate either an individual or organization in the Lamar/Fayette County area that would be willing to do the local legwork in assisting us in our efforts to see a memorial marker dedicated to the 26th Alabama, somewhere in that area. Tod is in Michigan and I am in Texas, so we are sort of impractical for the purpose, to say the least. We would appreciate anyone that could put us in contact with say the United Daughters of the Confederacy or the Sons of Confederate Veterans, or possibly even the DAR, if any of these organizations have a Lamar/Fayette chapter. 1. Bryant Family
    2. I am searching for the parents of Margaret Alice Bryant b January 26, 1884. It is thought she was born in Lamar Co, but possibly Madison Co. She settled in the Bootheel of Missouri and married Thaddeous Ely Campbell around 1900. Her father's name has been passed on to me as William Penn Bryant. I am waiting on pins and needles for some info that may cement some of this info. Her mother's maiden name was Saypaw ( I only spell it this way for its sound...I do not know the proper spelling). Margaret did remarry in 1957 to a Jeff Forrest. She died in Chaffee, Missouri on March 21, 1965. Please let me know if there are any familiar names in my little family history line. Thanks in Advance, Cindy Englehart Las Vegas

    1. WARNING
    2. Ken Sartin
    3. I am posting this to warn others about problems with Census Microfilm Expeditors . I was lured to order several microfilm copies from this company with "guarantees" of "speedy delivery" and "low price" . My order was placed in October of 1998 and as of this posting I have not received the order or a refund after numerous contacts with Steven Jensen at this firm . In his occasional replies he repeatedly gave false information to me as to the status of the order and cashed the check when mentioned stopping payment on it ( dumb on my part ) .I have copies of all documents and correspondences for those interested . Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and the United States Postal Inspectors , they have informed me that even they can't order this company to give a refund , but may seek criminal charges . I guess small claims court is next . If you are seeking genealogy resources......consider my experiences with this "Firm". Thank you , Kenneth Sartin

    3. I'm trying to find info on Hattie Adkins whose mother could have been Mary Adkins. Hattie would have been born around 1888. My GGGF, John Leonard Weeks, was living with her in 1920 Census in Lamar Co on Beaverton Road. Would Beaverton Road have been highway 278 or another road? Also need to know where Sugar Creek was located in 1838. Also need to know where Browns Beat #4 was (Lamar Co I think) in 1900. Can you tell its raining and all I have to do is think up questions?
