    3. Allison, sounds like you have a Sir Cam Virus infection. It is a new virus that can evade all but the newest detection files updates. Look in your C:\Recyled folder for a SirCam.exe file. If it's there, you are infected and you can see how to do an effective removal on McAfee.com, which just put out an alert about this virus. 1. weird email from me
    2. Scott & Allison Saxman
    3. To all: I apologize because I don't know what happened this evening but apparently something I received from someone was sent out to everyone in my address book - I scan religiously for viri and did again after I noted a problem (received bounced emails for things to old addresses in my file that I'd never sent out) and I'm coming up clean for virus detection with Symantec - don't know what's going on here but apologize and I did *not* send a resume out to anyone for advice - I'm still stymied as to how this happened, and as I said, I am clean for viri, so I'm clueless. Please disregard any email from me with any attachments until further notice - I almost never send anyone email with attachments anyway, so please always confirm unexpected attachments with me, or anyone else, before opening. Again, my apologies and I'm an trying to figure out how and why this happened because I did not send this email to anyone at all. Allison M. Saxman

    3. Some of the early marriages that took place here before Lamar Co,Al was created are recorded in Tuscaloosa County,Al and Monroe Co,Ms. also.As well as later ones in Fayette and Marion Counties. Many went to Lowdnes Co,Ms. to marry.Huntsville is another good place to look. Not all marriages were recorded in county records. Many of the early folks were already married when they arrived here. That's what makes the search fun!! Always interested in your LINKS! Jean

    3. Dale: Here's what the Lamar Co. website has about the formation of the county: Lamar County was formed from Marion, Fayette, and Pickens counties in February of 1867 and named Jones County. In November of the same year, the county was abolished, but was recreated in October 1868 as Sanford County. The name was changed to Lamar County in 1877 to honor Senator Lamar of Mississippi. Depending on where your people were located, you could possibly find a marriage record in Fayette, Marion or Pickens Counties. There are may unmarked graves in both cemeteries.Springfield church and cemetery is about 3 miles south of Lebanon.Furnace Hill Cemetery is about 4 miles south. All of these cemeteries date back a good ways. Charles Pennington lives north of the church. And descended from the old Pennington line in that area. 2. Scott & Allison Saxman
    3. Dear List: Whew!!! I think that Sue and I have the Lamar County website fairly well restored back to where Sabra had it, though it's not perfect! We worked from a printed copy of the main page from June, 1999, which was all that was available, and the parts of the site that were still left on the server. We need the assistance of all of you wonderful, loyal "listers" to help us complete the restoration and to keep the site exciting by the addition of new items! Here's what we need now: 1. Lamar County Families Online - please send me the links and the Lamar County Surnames on your sites and they will be added to this section asap. 2. Lookup Volunteers - We are in desperate need of lookup volunteers! Please see if you have any sources that you might be willing to do lookups for folks in that pertain to Lamar County. 3. Lamar County Records Online Probate Records: Will of Jethro Barnes w/reference to Lamar, Fayette & Green counties - this one has been lost - will the submitter please contact me or Sue about resubmitting it? Cemetery Records: Old Mulberry Springs Cemetery - We can't locate this record, either. Will the submitter please contact me or Sue about resubmitting it or if it is online somewhere, please submit a link? Sue and I thank you all for your patience, your assistance, and for the priviledge of assisting in providing Lamar County researchers with a website! Can you believe how fast the time has passed? This one almost passed me by. The AL-CEMETERIES Mailing List has 424 members, 310 on the Regular list and there are 114 members on the Digest List. As most of you know by now, the GenConnect Boards have changed. Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com are continuing their merger and now have merged the GenConnect Boards. I am not sure of my feeling regarding this yet, but will watch it and let you know. I am not one to jump to conclusions quickly. I also take care of many GenConnect Boards and did loose all of them in which I did not take care of the Query board due all the boards, bios, wills, pensions, etc. being combined within the Query board. If you used one of these boards, now you know why I suddenly disappeared. I know many of you have concerns regarding copyright laws and the information you post to the boards and the mailing lists. The following was posted by Rootsweb Management. "When you post messages to mailing lists, message boards, and other facilities at RootsWeb, those posts remain your property under copyright law." The same is true for those using the message boards at Ancestry.com. In short, if you posted it, you own it." If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller’s Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you” and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is.
