I am looking for the ancestors and descendants of William Campbell from TN who moved to Warrior, Jefferson Co., AL about 1848. I believe he is the William Campbell who married Margaret Blackburn in Dandridge, Jefferson, TN on 31 May 1822. I found them last in the 1870 census. In the 1850 census they have the following children: 1. Mary Ann (Polly) born about 1824 in TN ,died aft 1910. Mary Ann has two illegitimate children, William Harrison Campbell (my great grandfather ) born 19 Aug 1848 in TN, and Sarah P. Campbell born about 1864 in Jefferson Co. AL. 2. Patsy (Martha)born about 1835 in TN, married John Thomas 10 Nov 1835 . 3. Tipton born about 1838 in TN, married Mary Roberts on 2 Sep 1856 4. Jane born about 1841 in TN and married Dr. Martin Roberts on 2 Oct 1856 5. Harriet born about 1843 (I think she married a O. Drake of Jefferson Co. , AL, but have no proof.) 6. Elvira or Elvina born about 1845 in TN, and married a Thomas Mott (Motte) on 15 Dec 1869 in Jefferson Co., AL. 7. I also believe that John Blackburn Campbell is their son. (but have no proof) John married Caroline McClanhanon in Meigs Co. TN on 21 Jan 1846. (1) Both families came to AL about the same time. (2) John names his sons William Anderson Campbell , and James Houston Campbell. My great grandfather, William Harrison Campbell also names his sons William Anderson Campbell (1870) and James Houston Campbell (1879). (3) Both families have a lot to do with the Blackburn family of Warrior, AL. (Example, William Harrison Campbell marries Artalissa Holt at H. H. Blackburn’s home on 17 Feb. 1869.)
