I would like to find another individual who may know something about my GGGrandad William A. Scott b 1800 TN and mar Flora Ann Scott about 1829 in AL (probably in Jefferson or Talladega Counties). Flora was b 1809 in GA and was the daughter of William and Annis Cameron of Talladega, AL. William A. Scott was the sheriff of Jefferson County Alabama from 1829 to 1834. He signed several documents in county records. He bought some land and also had a cotton business at Elyton on main street I believe for a period of time. In 1834 he was elected as State Representative for the Jefferson County area. I would like to know more about him. I have no other information of where he went to represent the people back then. In 1859 he was at the estate sale of William Cameron and purchased several items. He had an address of Mobile, AL in 1859 before he moved to Rusk County, Texas by 1860 and was on the census there with his wife Flora and 4 children (James M. Scott; Thomas W. Scott, Mary J. Scott and Robert A. Scott) another daughter Ann Eliza J. Scott mar Hugo A. Shillytoe and stayed in Mobile when the rest moved west. I would really like to know where and when William A. Scott and Flora A. Cameron were married as all their children were born at Elyton. I also would like to know where Willliam A. Scott came from. He showed up as a deputy sheriff about 1827 or 28 at Elyton. He was also the 1830 census emumerator for Jefferson County. So he was playing a large role in the settlement of Jefferson County for several years, but I still feel there is more about this man that I know very little about, does anyone have any research on him or his life as a representative? Any help would be appreciated. Mike Golden Temple, Texas MGolden603@aol.com
