To the "digger" There is a website for the Tutwiler Collection of Southern History (the genealogy department) of the Birmingham Public Library. This department is located in the "old" library building next to the Jefferson County courthouse, and across the street (via catwalk over street) from the "new" one. Free parking on 22nd Street side via Park Street. They have a wonderful collection!!!!!!!!!! And the staff is very helpful. Click on "Correspondence" on the site and follow the directions there. The hours (as I remember???? from my visits there) Mon-Tues: 9am-8pm; Wed-Sat: 9am-6pm. Sunday(I don't know) Since I have to go from out-of-town, I'm not certain about these but I think they are correct. There are email addresses there for questions.
