    1. [ALJEFFER] Harris and Goodwin families in Jefferson County
    2. Kristina Harris
    3. I am still looking for information of my Harris families in Jefferson County. My gg grandfather, General Marion Harris disappeared (Nov. 1863) in the Civil War and our family history stops here. The only evidence which I have found of my early family are census records, an 1836 BLM Land Entry File and an 1859 County Deed. General's mother, Sarah Harris, owned property in Pinson, AL., (Section 5, Township 16, Range 1 West) His father may have been Joel Harris. Other children may have included William M., (probably Sarah and James Harris eldest son) James M.(jr), John P., and 2 unknown females. James (sr.) and Joel Harris were most likely related. William M (Montgomery?) Harris m. 1843, Mary Cooper; children included William Isaac, Eliza, GB (Green B. ?) S.A., J. T. and R.M. William Isaac Harris m. 1869, Margaret Franklin; children included William James, Thomas L. (Luther) John W., Bert / Lenert and Mary / Mattie Harris. William James Harris m. abt 1895 and had several children including a son named Ernest Harris. My information stops at 1920. I would like to find out further information on these "collateral lines" hoping that the descendents of William M. Harris may know more information about our early families.
