My relatives would drive to Montgomery, Ala. stopping in Prattville to see my Great Grandfather, William Sterlin McVay (b. 1843) 2nd wife, Cattie O Smith, Cattie Merritt, and Catherin. She was born in 1847 in Autauga County, Ala. She married Sterlin on March 23, 1876 at Mrs. Merritt's residence. William Sterlin McVay was born in Mt Hope, Ala. I wish I knew how they met. My line, Durden-McVay-McWilliams. Maybe Merritt. After Sterlin died in 1908, Cattie moved back to Prattville and worked at a "Women's Rest Area". Her sister, Lille M. Smith.
