    1. [ALJEFFER] HARRIS SWINNEY & GOODWIN --- The early families circa 1850
    2. Kristina Harris
    3. General Marion Harris (given name) was born ca 1838 in Jefferson County, AL. Parents are officially unknown but were probably Sarah Swinney and Joel Harris. Siblings also unknown but may have been William M., John P. & James M. Harris. General married Susan Goodwin in 1859; they had 1 son, Secretary T. L. Harris from whom I descend. General enlisted in the 9th Alabama Infantry which later became the 58th AL Infantry but disappeared during the battle of Missionary Ridge, Chattanooga, TN. (Nov. 1863) His wife, Susan, obtained a pension for his service, stating in her application that he disappeared and was never heard from again. Practically nothing is known about the family except that his mother, "Sarah Harris" owned property in Pinson AL. Her oldest son, William, married Mary Cooper and they raised their family in Trussville. Sarah's other son, James Harris married Susan Ritch, and they had 2 daughters before he was apparently killed during the Civil War. John Harris married Elizabeth Shedd and they migrated into Texas about 1850. Joel Harris is a complete unknown and I have almost no information as to where the family may have originated. Would like to find descendents of William M. Harris whose family was still in Jefferson County as of 1920. Kristina Harris kharris@televar.com
