    3. I recently obtained the death record for an individual who died in Trussville, Jefferson County in about 1929. Now that I finally have the date of death, I can start looking for a newspaper obituary, if one exists. I have a copied list of the "Newspapers in Microfilm;" however, not being from the south, I have no idea which early papers carried locaI or community type of news. I also have access to InterLibrary Loan but it often takes months to obtain films and then I don't know whether the paper will even include death records. Does anyone know whether there were local newspapers that might have published an obituary for an individual who lived and died in Trussville, 1929. Kristina Harris kharris@televar.com

    3. Kristina, I don't know that Trussville has ever had anything other than a community paper. Today's major newspapers in Birmingham are the Birmingham News and the Birmingham Post Herald. As I remember, the predecessor to the Post Herald was the Age Herald. I'd suggest contacting the Birmingham Public Library's Genealogy Department. I know that they have numerous microfilm records of old Birmingham newspapers, but I don't know how extensive their collection is. If you'll give me the name, I'll look it up for you when I get the chance. I usually make a trip to the library once a week or so.
