Most would run in both directions, and had a place at each end where the motorman could stand and operate the trolley. The BRL&P also had a reasonable number of open sided rail cars that did not have any power at all. These had long step up boards along both sides. One or two of them could be pulled as trailers by one of the regular electric trolleys. Before WW II those bright yellow open sided cars were used to take the crowds back and forth to the baseball games at the old Rickwood Field and also to things like the annual Alabama State Fair.
