The Birmingham Library also has free gated parking with a guard at the entrance. If the weather is bad you can go through the new part of the library up to the third floor I believe and cross over to the microfilm and Southern History part. Otherwise you can walk from the parking lot across 20th street. The entrance faces the park. I agree that they have a fine collection. They are open late on Monday and Tuesday and close about 6 PM other days. They also have a large periodical room with PERSI and a great selection of the periodicals.
