The earliest documentation I've found for my gr gr grandfather, Jesse RIGGS', family is on the 1850 Tishomingo Co., MS Southern Division census, Series M432, Roll 382, p. 124. Jesse is not shown with them, nor is it known if this was the only family he had: Melinda RIGGS, 46, b. TN Henry, 24, b. AL Thos J., 21, b. AL Isah C., 16, b. AL (my gr grandfather) Mary J., 14, b. AL Samuel W., 12, b. AL Sarah A., 10, b. AL One other son is shown on the 1850 Decatur, TN 6-District, Series M432, Roll 876, p. 429. He is said to have been born in the area now known as Birmingham, AL: William RIGGS, 22, b. AL (his full name was William George RIGGS Evaline RIGGS, 18, b. TN. Many of the siblings settled in the Decatur Co., TN area. If anyone has further information on the above I would love to hear from you. Peggy Riggs Kopp
