If you blindfolded me and transported me to the Alabama Theater without telling me where I was, I would know from the aroma. I saw Giant and Rebel Without a Cause there and best of all....Love Me Tender, starring Elvis! Thru my teen years my girlfriend and I would ride the bus from Central Park to downtown and eat lunch at the Krystal with the oval window, then go to Loveman's and buy candy (haystacks) from their candy counter and smuggle it in to the Alabama and then after the movie, back around the corner, past the Krystal to Rumore's Record Rack where I spent the rest of my allowance on the latest 45. Other times we would go to Loveman's, purchase a shopping bag for a quarter, buy our lunch at Krystal, hide it in the bag along with the candy from Lovemans and go into the Alabama and then have the gall to line up at the concession stand with our contraband to purchase our cokes to go with lunch. I first saw "Gone With The Wind" at the Alabama.Complete with girl attendants in their antebellum dresses. That looked like magic. ----- Original Message ----- From: <PsychSW@aol.com> To: <aljeffer@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 08, 2007 8:54 PM Subject: Re: [ALJEFF] names in my dads 1930 diary If you blindfolded me and transported me to the Alabama Theater without telling me where I was, I would know from the aroma.
