I do not know which Cunnunghams these are. However, It was James Cunningham, if I recall given name correctly, who settled during territorial days (thus making descendants eligible as a First Family of Alabama - Alabama Genealogical Society- see website) on what became Cunningham's Creek that crosses Pinson Valley to the west of Pinson. It was on his premises before statehood that a Methodist church was founded as or became Smith's Chapel Methodist later moved to the Huntsville Road (now HWY. 79) that lasted until about 1900 and for which some minutes survive for 1842-1850s. I had relatives in it. This church & Mr. Cunnningham are noted in Anson West's history of Methodism in Alabama.
