I have Rutherford Co, TN resource books. Feel free to email me at my home email -- my new home in College Grove, TN (in Rutherford Co,TN) bjernigan7040@bellsouth.net I have lists of early pioneers, cemetery books and a heritage book very similar to the Alabama county heritage series. It even has some biographies just like the Alabama county heritage books. Barry Jernigan I also highly recommend looking at the Rutherford Co, TN Genweb and communicating with the very nice helpful folks at the Rutherford County Archives in Murfreesboro (now in a separate building from the court house). Record Books are where you find most of the older documents (wills, deeds, etc). Abbreviated as RB and then listed chronologically and called by a number: RB1, RB2, etc. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
Mr. Jernigan, I was wondering if you could look in your books for any Cunningham's, especially for a James Cunningham. I'm trying to see if he might be the father of my 3rd great grandmother, Ann or Anna, who married Duncan Johnson/ston. I'm assuming that Duncan Johnson and Ann were born in about the mid-1770's or perhaps earlier (because their first son was born in 1800), so then James Cuningham was probably born in about the early to mid-1750's. I'm just guessing at all of this. I have looked at the Rutherford Co., TN web site, but I didn't find anything on them. Thanks in advance. As it turns out, Jesse Cunningham & family were written up in The Heritage of Jefferson County, Alabama. I assumed that this source had been consulted, I guess. He "reportedly" had 8 sons & 2 daughters, "one daughter not found." They are listed as: William C., Virginia Robert Mack, Malinda Lydia Blackburn, Jesse, Sarah Jane, George, John, Sarah Jane, Reuben, & Isaiah. No Johnson marriages listed but not all reported. Family members moved westward vaRIOUSLY TO Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, explaining absence for mid-century census, if I recall reporting. The person writing up the Cunninghams who should be consulted is: Mark L. Sinclair, 1402 Richmond Avenue, Apt. 307, Houston, TX 77006-5323. The Cunninghams were from South Carolina via Tennessee. Some children were born there as during first decade of 1800s - fitting the neighborhood pattern. Well, thanks for this information, Mr. Erwin. I really appreciate it, but you are using the name "Jesse" Cunningham, whereas in your other e-mails, which I have saved, you used the name "James" Cunningham, so that's why I was asking about James - not Jesse. So, I'm now wondering which one was actually in Jefferson Co. Was it Jesse or James? Thanks for trying to help me. I see that this "Jesse" Cuningham did NOT have a daughter named Ann or Anna, so he is probably not the right one.
