I ordered a death certificate on an EVANS child and it is not mine. Whoever is related to the child, can have the death certificate. This is a special death certificate - nobody cared enough to see his last info about him was written correctly. Child is Stanley P. EVANS, age 8 months, died May 7, 1918, 4:30 pm, African American, born in Birmingham father was W.W. EVANS (initials may be different) born Marion Al. mother was A?? P??? EVANS, born Marion, Al. At time of death he lived at 920 Joseph St., Jefferson County. Dr. was Huckabee, 2001 Ave W. Buried Grace Hill, undertaker Echols & Strong in Birmingham. Ok you asked why is this one 'special' - Well he was somebody's baby, only 8 months old, primary cause of death was Enteritis (diarhea), had to be bad, he was treated from April 24, 1918 until May 6, 1918 before he died, and was buried on May 7, 1918. Back then they had no real medical treatments, they usually just got too dehydrated and then died. His little body could take no more, and apparently nobody paid any attention to this death, because, as written on the death certificate he was treated from 4/24/1918 to 5/6/1918 (the little things) date of death listed is April 6, 1918, burial was April 7, 1918, nobody paid any attention to getting the smallest details correct - I believe Dr. Huckabee was a white man and this was a Negro child, can you imagine having to bury your child the very next day after he died, what did they bury him in, it will be 100 years before long, Mama I cried for your baby and I cared about him, so nobody gets this unless they can show a connection, who knows what he could of been. No medicine for Black babies, no hospital for Black babies - but he had a mother and a father and now he has an old woman that cares he died, maybe I can make it up to her and find him a relative. Doed anybody know where that cemetery is? You think he may have a marker? All I want is someone to say I was special, when I "go up"? I also ways say, if you cannot handle the smallest of detail, how are going to handle the biggest. delilah evans The Good Ones always Go first!
