He was about 51 years old. He was buried on the same afternoon. Mrs.. Mattie MITCHELL, was called suddenly Thursday night by telegram to the bedside of her father who resides in Tuskaloosa county and who was not expected to live. Mr. CARROLL , blacksmith, has a very sore hand, and he cannot attend to his work. Slope No. 6 Mr. John HARKINS, who has been fire boss here for some time, has resigned. Jim WILLIAMS, colored, who has been driving scape ways got fumed very badly last Saturday by a gas explosion. Bob PAYNE, one of our soldier boys, who recently returned from Cuba, has secured work in a blacksmith shop. Mrs. W. A. BRADLEY, wife of our night watchman, has been sick several days but is now convalescent. Slope No. 2 Mr. GROSS is putting an electric plant here which will add a great deal to Number 2. Mr. W. A. SMITHSON is quite ill at his room. Sunday morning bright and early, Mr. Mack SELF left for Pinson and was married to Miss Eliza BATES the same afternoon. They will reside in Pratt City. Mr. W. W. KICKER and Miss Emmie WILLIAMS, both of this place was married at the Baptist church in Pratt City last Monday morning at 10:00 o'clock. Mr. J. M. KICKER of Coalburg, was out shaking hands with his many friends last Monday evening. Mr. W. B. FISHER visited home folks at Sandusky last Sunday evening. ___ "Wedding Bells" Among the pleasant social events of the week was the marriage of Miss Carolyn Isabella NAIL of this city and Mr. Herman SMITH, of Montgomery. Miss NAIL is the daughter of Mr. J. L. NAIL of this city. Miss Ida BLACK has returned from a pleasant visit to her friends at Powderly. Rev. J. T. BLACK and little son, Brantlett, spent part of last week with relatives in Gadsden. Miss Callie JOHNSON is visiting friends at Birmingham. "PERSONAL" Mr. Neil HUTCHINGS returned Thursday from a week's outing. Miss Mattie COX, of Fairview, visited Mrs. Geo. EDWARDS this week. Rev. and Mrs. Thomas MAKIN visited friends at New Castle last week. Rev. J. A. MITCHELL and Vincent LAMBERT are visiting in Knoxville, Tenn., They will be absent about six weeks. Mrs. A. G. WILLIAM'S is visiting in north Tennessee. Prof. Z. T. FUGUA will move to Ensley next week. Mrs. J. W. CHAPMAN, of Oxmoor, is visiting Mrs. C. R. ATKINS this week. Mr. W. H. HUEY, of Birmingham, was in the city Thursday. Mr. James L. PRATHER, of the Herald office force, is sick at the editor's home suffering from a threatened attack of pneumonia. Mr. T. W. HUFFMAN, of Bessemer, Ala., was in the city Wednesday night, in attendance upon the marriage of his niece, Miss Carrie Belle NAIL. Miss Maggie GASSETT and mother, of Birmingham, who have been visiting relatives and friends here and at Crumley's Chapel, have returned home, accompanied by Misses Navie and Callie CRUMLEY, who will spend a week with them. __ There is a Resolution of Respect for John M. MANDY , deceased, from the Florida Lodge No. 450 of Masons. (This is the Pratt City Lodge) There is al Resolution of Respect for John A. BAKER, from the Florida Lodge . Bro. BAKER was born April 1839, in Jefferson county, Alabama, and resided here all his life. He lived a useful upright and honored life and passed away universally regretted, therefore be it. Mr. George ROBERTSON, a white miner at No. 1 Patterson's place, was killed one day last week by falling rock . Mr. ROBERTSON was well known in and around Birmingham district. He leaves a wife and four children. Mr. James GIBBS, a white driver at No. 1. Slope, who was so severely bruised up a short time ago is now doing nicely and has about recovered . Miss Flora AVERETT has already become home sick. She can be heard any time singing "Home Sweet Home". Mr. W. O. PHILLIPS, the popular merchant who bought out Mr. Sam JONES's stock is receiving his new goods. We are sorry to chronicle the illness of our friend, Mr. WILSON, who is very sick with typhoid fever. The school gave their annual closing exercises last Saturday night ..... Mrs.. Flora SHINGLEBAR, the teacher, deserves much credit for her god work. Addresses were made by Messrs. DICKEY and ASHTON. Graysville is needing a post office very bad. let us have an office at home and don't have to go away down to Blossburg.
