Here are some more items from the paper "Pratt City Herald" March 25, 1899. Saturday afternoon last, a very distressing accident occurred a short distance from the city by which Harry CEMPER, a young lad of fourteen years lost his life. The boy was the son of French parents, his mother having died sometime since. It is said that he was playing about an empty car, which suddenly it was struck by a backing train..... The body was shipped to New Castle, Ala, for internment beside his mother. Mrs. W. R. GALLUP died Thursday after an illness of but a few days. The funeral services were held from the M. E. Church, South, Friday afternoon. Rev. H. S. HAMILTON officiating. A young man by the name of Sim GARRISON died suddenly Wednesday night. He had been in the city only about two weeks having came her from Hartselle, Ala........ The remains were shipped to Hartselle for burial. Mr. Fred SMITH, who works at the steel mill in Ensile, while riveting some of the framework of the building Wednesday, was accidentally struck in the face by a sledge hammer in the hands of John MARTIN. Mr. SMITH boards with Mr. MOORE at Pratt Station. Mr. W. D. YOUNG will begin at once the erection of a new building next to the post office which will be occupied by Mr. SHEDD as a barber shop. Mrs. Mattie LAMBERT will commence the erection of a large addition to her residence next Monday. "Personal" Miss Mabelle Austin, of Brookside, is visiting friends in Pratt City and Birmingham. W. A. WRIGHT was in Brookside on business Monday. Emma JONES WILLOUGHBY, who has been quite sick with pneumonia for several days, is now very much improved.
