Mr. Leo IRELAND and Miss Louie LACY were married last Sunday afternoon. Mr. John GLAZE and Miss Ada WHITE were united in the holy bonds of matrimony Tuesday afternoon. ----- Two negroes were killed outright and another fatally shot in a one sided battle Saturday at Ishkooda, Ala., between the striking miners and the negroes who had been imported to take their place. __ "WYLAM WHISPERS" Died on July 14, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie CRAWLEY. Died on July 15, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sol. SMITH. Mr. John PATTON and family, late of Winston county, have moved back to Wylam. Mr. R. M. BYRNS, Misss H. E. church, South, Sunday. The French Society had their first picnic and ball at the City Hall last Saturday. "CRUMLEY'S CHAPEL" Mrs. R. E. SHOEMAKER celebrated her seventy-third anniversary at the home of her son, Mr. Jasper SHOEMAKER last Saturday. Mr. Jim JOHNSON is quite sick with fever. Mrs. J. W. SHOEMAKER, of Carbon Hill, Ala., is visiting her father, A. W. VARNON. Mrs. Luke WALDROP is quite sick this week. Mr. A. B. FINCH has returned home after a two month visit in Georgia. Rev. J. T. BLACK is running a protracted meeting at McDonald's Chapel this week. "PERSONAL" Mrs. George W. BROWN returned Wednesday from a short visit to friends. Mr. N. W. BERGLUND, manager of the Ensley City Bakery, was in the city Thursday on business. Mrs. Frank STOVES visited friends at Bessemer, Thursday. -- There is an advertisement for the mortgage executed to J. M.
