    3. Here are more items from the Pratt City Herald - April 15, 1899. The funeral of Mr. Syl. GOSSETT passed through the city Wednesday enroute from Jonesville to "Crumly Chapel" where the services were held. The interment was made at Crumly's Chapel burying ground. (note: this name is not shown in the Jefferson County Cemetery Book Vol. 1 which has the Crumly Chapel Cemetery survey). Mrs. J. W. MINOR, who is well known in Pratt City, Ensley and Thomas, was suddenly attacked with that dead disease, appendicitis this week. After suffering intensely for a day or two an operation was performed which bids fair to prove successful and at the present writing she is much improved. Wedding Bells The approaching marriage of Mr. James G. MEAGHER of this city and Miss Mary Francis THOMAS of Auburn. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday morning, April 26, at the First Baptist church in Auburn. Several friends will accompany the groom and attend the wedding. Mrs. P. S. VALLELY has been quite sick for a number of days. With the dawning of Monday morning there arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. DEBARDELABEN, a baby boy. The Tuesday Evening Super Club will meet at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. James A. KIRK next Tuesday evening. The infant child of Mr.. and Mrs. Richard BOYD was buried yesterday. Rufus WAKEFIELD, son of Mrs. WAKEFIELD who resides near Ida station, was very sick early in the week, but is now reported as better. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph RHODES moved into their new home on South Highlands Thursday. "Personal" Mr. H. D. CARR of Birmingham was in the city this week on business. Miss Lenora SIMMONS, of Bessemer, is the guest of Mrs. and Mrs. James A. KIRK, at their beautiful home on East Highlands. Mrs. E. DONALDSON returned Wednesday from a brief visit to friends in Tennessee. Rev. H. S. HAMILTON is absent in attendance upon district conference for the M. E. church, South, for the Birmingham District. He will return this afternoon. Senator R. M. CUNNINGHAM left today for South Alabama points. He will be away several days. " Below the Surface" Slope No. 6. Mr. Tom JACKSON from the Indian Territory has secured work at No. 6, and will start Monday. His family is with him. Mr. Ed McGINTY has become dissatisfied at No. 6 and has quit. Ed said the walk was too long for him. Mr. Hermon LUTHER had to get a man to work in his place the other day till the went to the spectacle shop for a pair of glasses. Mike TRAVIS is at his post again after a few days sickness and Mr.. McMICHAEL has gone back to work inside. Mr. and Mrs. Will OSBORNE entertains some of Pratt City's juvenile population Wednesday evening.
