The Alabama Department of Transportation sells maps of each county. These maps are inexpensive [$.30, and 2.80]. They come in three sizes - one inch = one mile, half inch = one mile and quarter inch = one mile. The larger ones are great for plotting where one's ancestors had land. They all have township, range and section numbers. The site to purchase the maps is at http://www.dot.state.al.us/Bureau/Equipment/maps.HTM The link for the available maps is not the standard link It is the sentence [beside the bouncing blue ball] "This way to list of available county maps" with no underline, etc. A printable order blank also has a link on the page. I have several for different counties and use them quite regularly. Hope this helps, Melba Clark
CORRECTION The cost of the maps are: One-dollar and 30 cents for the two smaller ones. Two-dollars and 80 cents for the larger one. The larger one is well-worth the extra if one is interested in plotting land owners. Sorry about the post missing the "1" in the cost of the smaller ones in my previous post.
