    3. Professor O. Kelly Ingram is not listed in the current Durham, N. C., telephone directory. I do not know anyone else in that family. You might look up the Duke Divinity School online and contact the office there. There being Ingrams galore, there should be relatives down there, although the Professor is not in the Ingram book. Until I got into the Ingram book, I had no idea I was related to so much of Blount County. 2. Robert McEver
    3. First of all, thanks to Laurel Baty, Ann Glasgow and Joan Jones for the excellent information that came immediately after I subscribed to these websites. Most of my questions are answered. In the information provided, there were references cited such as "Distinguished Men, Women and Families of Franklin Co., Alabama," by R. L. James, pub. cir. 1927-1929, pages 77-78. I have information that satisfies certain of the unknowns listed in the excerpts provided. Is this the best forum to submit this information and in what format? The census info provided for cities includes such items as "District 6", "Eastern Subdivision" and "Precinct 37". Is there a reference available to obtain more information on location of these geographic areas for the Counties listed? Finally, the Laurel Baty response included a link to the cemeteries of Franklin County which lists several Allens that are relations that are buried in Allen Cemetery. When I follow up to determine the location of Allen Cemetery, all I find is the name Spruce Pine. Spruce Pine, AL makes sense in that is located south of Russellville and just north of where Allen's Factory was located in Marion County. Is there a source for learning more about the exact location/address of the Allen Cemetery? Thanks again for your great information and speedy reply. Regards, Robert Robert McEver 713-272-0979 bmcever@sbcglobal.net

He was blown overboard when the torpedo struck, thus becoming the first enlisted man killed in action in World War I as he saved his ship and shipmates. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on that day. ----------------------------------------------------------- | Article printed in Birmingham Age-Herald, October 18, 1917 | | | "The first man on an American war vessel to give his life in the fight for | world freedom (World War 1) was a Birmingham, Alabama man, Gunner's Mate | OSMOND KELLY INGRAM, of the United States Navy.
