    1. [ALJEFFER] J. D. Dunn Family Album
    2. Edgar D. Byler, III
    3. Good afternoon all: I am new to the Jefferson County list, but not new to Jefferson County research. My g-grandparents were in Ensley and Birmingham in the period 1890-1910 and still owned property there as late as the 1930s. I'd like to invite you all to come and visit a new section of pages I have just posted to my personal web site. These pages are scans of the photographs from my G-grandparents' (J. D. Dunn) album. Many of the photographs were made in Birmingham and Ensley and many of them remain unidentified. If you happen to recognize any of the people who are currently unidentified, please let me know. My g-grandfather and g-grandmother were both born in England in the 1860's and came to America in 1887 and 1880 respectively. G-grandfather Dunn worked at the Iron Furnaces in Ensley and elsewhere his entire career, as did many of the members of his family. Some of the photographs are family members, but others are probably friends of the family. None have names on the originals, but over the years I've been able to identify some of them. So come by for a visit. Who knows, you may see a relative. The address is http://www.netease.net/members/edby3/album/JDDunn.htm Edgar Edgar D. 2. Melba J Clark
    3. To the "digger" There is a website for the Tutwiler Collection of Southern History (the genealogy department) of the Birmingham Public Library. This department is located in the "old" library building next to the Jefferson County courthouse, and across the street (via catwalk over street) from the "new" one. Free parking on 22nd Street side via Park Street. They have a wonderful collection!!!!!!!!!! And the staff is very helpful. The URL is <http://www.bham.lib.al.us/departments/Southern/Gene.htm> One can order copies of obits from the microfilm department. Click on "Correspondence" on the site and follow the directions there. The hours (as I remember???? from my visits there) Mon-Tues: 9am-8pm; Wed-Sat: 9am-6pm. Sunday(I don't know) Since I have to go from out-of-town, I'm not certain about these but I think they are correct. There are email addresses there for questions. Hope this helps, Melba -----Original Message----- From: DigMyRoots@aol.com <DigMyRoots@aol.com> To: melba.clark@gte.net <melba.clark@gte.net> Date: Friday, November 12, 1999 5:54 AM Subject: Re: [ALJEFFER] New subscriber to list - Intro >Thank you for the reply. 2. Hi researchers! We are looking for help on the surname Scoggins in the Birmingham area around 1880-1900. My wife's grandfather, James W. Scoggins, was born in Birmingham 11-24-1900. His parents names were John Augustus SCOGGINS and Nary GILMORE. Being in New Orleans, we have very little access to records from that area. Would anyone know anything about John and Nary? We have nothing to go on as to when they were born, married, etc. Were there any other kids, etc.? If anyone has any info we would appreciate it.
