    1. [ALJEFFER] Westbrook Family
    2. Merry Ann Simmons
    3. My grandfather was Oscar Thomas or Thomas Oscar depending upon the record. His dob was 1893. He had one full sister Lorena who was born in 1896. He always said when asked that his parents were Gene Westbrook and Becky Hite. He said his mother died and his father took off, leaving him and his sister with Becky's parents Andrew and Nancy Hite. Both children are enumerated with them on the 1900 census. On the 1880 census for the Hites there is a Frances R. listed who might have been "Becky". We have no paper trail on either parents. Papa said Gene's parents were Wash and Minnie Westbrook. Grandma said Minnie was a Reaves(could be spelled Reeves) I have been unable to find anything on these parents either. My great aunt who was my grandmothers sister-in-law by her brother, said that "Gene father alot of children". She is 80 and doesn't know anything other then that. I have been told that Gene was possibly Gene W. Westbrook and he had the following children, Carrie, Cora, Lester, Lum, Minnie, Robert Oscar, Mattie and Webb. Said Gene lived in Jefferson Co Ala. Robert Oscar lived in Piedmont, Calhoun Co Ala. and married Maude Melton Smart. This person said that they believed that Gene's parents were John Washington Westbrook and Margaret Reaves. This person wasn't researching this line and this is all he had. I know that Gene was alive when my father was a child and my dad was born in 1920. My father is deceased so is most of Oscars children who would know anything. I am hoping to hook up with someone researching this line. Or someone who might have a obit or burial site for Gene. I have told everyone for years that my Papa was placed here by aliens since I have found nothing on this line, haha. But some where Gene had to leave a paper trail. Any help is appreciated, Merry Ann Simmons

    1. [ALJEFFER] Question...
    2. Thought I was responding back to the list, but since it went directly to Jean, wanted to make sure that this made it. I have also noticed something else... Walter died at 58 years of age, according to the obit, and died in 1950, (per AL. death index), that would have put his birth date at 1892-1893. In the obit it says he received his pharmacy degree from Howard College in 1910. He would have only been 18 years old. Does this sound right to y'all???? How many years did they have to attend regular public school? Does anyone know???? Before going to college? Can anyone help me on this?? Taking any and all suggestions. Kay R. Music Hi Jean, On my obit of Walter Lynch Furman, maybe I should have added that Willie and Walter were both on their second marriage. I am not sure of the date, but Willie's first husband, Fred Feibelman Heyman, died in 1941, so it was after that when Willie and Walter married, maybe 1942-1943? Someone sent me this: Name Walter L Furman Death Date 04 Oct 1950 Death County Jefferson Volume 41 Certificate 20077 Role 5 Comment blank Page # blank Sex blank Race blank So if Walter was 58, when he died in 1950, I am guessing that he was born in 1892-1893. Walter and Willie did not have any children together. Thanks for any and all help that I receive. Kay R. Music "Jean E." wrote: > Hi, A couple of names caught my eye in your note.
