    2. Irma Roy
    3. Hi, Frieda, I have been following the Jefferson County posts and saw where you have some books to do look ups in Mississippi. Here is what my cousins and I have found on our ancestor Simeon Miles who was In Shelby Co., AL in 1840, then went to Miss. and we found the following information !!Janet Stacey, Peg Hocutt and Irma J. Roy all looked at the Old Tishimingo County, Mississippi records on line at their GENWEB project page. Janet found this first and alerted the rest of us. Here is what we found: In the 1841-1847 Civil Cases, Docket for Old Tishomingo County, Mississippi, 1844, page 323, Aaron Dun/Deen vs. Drury Jentry, Simeon Miles and Rebecca Jentry. In the Letter Book #2, Circuit Court 1842-1844 is listed: MILES, Leonard Juror Pg 5 MILLS, Samuel P. Plaintiff Pg 335 !!This found found by Janet Stacey either on Ancestry.com or Geneology.com: Listed in the Index to the 1845 Mississippi State Census is: MILES, SIMEON State: MS Year: 1845 County: Tishomingo County Record Type: Township: No Township Listed Page: 023 Database: MS 1845 State Census Index !! Janet Stacey also found this information: 1841 Mississippi State Census Index for Itawamba County has an S. MILES. 1853 Mississippi State Census Index for Itawamba County has an S. MILES. 1866 Mississippi State Census Index for Simpson County has an S. J. MILES. Is there anything in your books on Tishimingo County Miss that corresponds with these names? Thanks you for looking, Irma J. Roy

    3. The Aaron TAYLOR you mentioned is my ggg-grandfather. His name was TAYLOR. I have not found any connection between Aaron TAYLOR's line and the TYLER families who lived near him. Aaron moved with his parents from NC to Rutherford Co., TN, where he married Martha Daniel in 1816. They had moved to Jefferson Co., AL after selling land in TN in late 1818. Aaron is mentioned in Mary Gordon Duffee's column in the "Weekly Iron Age" printed in Birmingham, Alabama, 9 Dec 1886, along with info about his brother, Jesse, and some of their Taylor cousins. 2. Try contacting the Linn-Henley Research Library, if they cannot help you, then try the Archives there at the Library (it is in the basement of Linn-Henley). Linn-Henley Research Library (205) 226-3665 Archives (205) 226-3630 The Archives has a lot of info on old cemeteries. I have been to the Eastlake Cem many times, my husband has relatives buried there. There have been no burials there for many, many, years. I recently obtained a photo of a now defunct hotel to send to bobomama. They had a picuture of that hotel, and information on it as well. Linn-Henley Research Library - Research Dept 2100 Park Place Birmingham, AL 35203 The folks in the research dept of this library are wonderful and they take the time to help you any way they can, you might also try contacting them online. I am sure they have an e-mail address also. As to who would have the records, the Archives might be able to help you there, as it might have who originally owned the cemetery (what church) etc. There have been a lot of changes in EastLake in recent years. Many churches have closed and changed hands. I have a number of photos that I took there at the cem several years ago. Unfortunately that cemetery has also suffered from a lot of horrific vandalism (stones broken, defaced, tumped over, etc). Some of the stones have been defaced to the point they are unreadable.
