Has anyone any knowledge of the BAXTER family in the area in the 1830's? Am researching James Monroe Baxter, b. 1838, went to Scott County, Arkansas as a child, served in the CSA from Crawford County, AR, and settled there afterwards. His parents may have been Reuben Wayne and Sophia Baxter, shown in 1850 census as being from Tennessee. In 1860 census for Scott County he and other Baxter children are living in the household of Nathan Nicholson (believe Nathan's wife and Sophia may have been sisters).
