I believe that he received <what was> Indian land in Jackson County as payment for his service in the Florida Indian Wars. Co. D, "was born about 1822 in Randolph County, NC, died August 11, 1896. His first wife was Charlotte Brannon, second wife was Polly Freeman and third wife was Gilly Yarbrough Anderson." He has a stone located at Sanders (Mill Creek) Cemetery, Township 2 South, Range 5 East, Section 20, in the Valley in Jackson Co.
