Hello, James Monroe BAXTER, born 1838 in Jackson County per his CSA records. He lived as a youngster in Scott County, Arkansas, served in CSA unit from Crawford County, Arkansas. Settled in Crawford County, a brother John Napoleon BAXTER also served with him in the same unit. John settled in Texas in late 1860's. Believe they are both older relatives of my grandfather, Arthur Wellington BAXTER. Grandpa died fairly young and not much family history is known. They lived with Reuben Wayne and Sophia Baxter in Scott County. Sophia died in childbirth and Reuben believed to have gone to Texas, leaving children with a Nathan Nicholson also of Scott County.
