I am "stonewalled" in finding my ggrandfather's (James C) parents, birthplace, etc. In the 1880 AL census he is listed in Jackson County as a Mill Worker, bn 1846 SC, died 27 Jan 1888 in Paint Rock, married to "Caroline" with daughters Mary Margaret (my maternal grandmother) bn 1876 AL and Julia Ann bn 1875. J. C.'s obit was in The Scottsboro Citizen's 2 Feb 1888 publication -- death due to pneumonia -- and strangely (to me) the same paper's 12 Jul 1888 edition referenced his funeral which was preached the previous Sunday at Paint Rock. Any ideas as to why the funeral was some 5+ months later?? I would much appreciate any information on this family; if anyone is researching I have Mary Margaret's information forward. Gay Parrish
